Review

Herod's Lost Tomb is an attractive hidden object game in which you play an archaeologist who searches for Herod’s secret tomb. Your task is to visit 16 important archaeological sites and find clues that help him find the tomb. The game includes 20 chapters, and in each of them you will visit 3 to 9 sites of the 16 available and you will be given a list of 9 objects to find at each site. So, sometimes you will have to visit the same location many times and look for the same objects which are actually located in the same place. if you can't find a certain object or you are not sure what it is, you can always click on any item on the list and see its silhouette on the side or also use the hint system that allows you to specify what items you are looking for. The game also allows you to select if you want to play in timed or relaxed mode, and there are no penalties for extra clicks. The story is not very compelling, not what it was expected from the National Geographic Channel, and the video cut scenes are fine. Throughout the game you will earn five different power-up tool, but almost all work in the same way. It also includes five simple mini-games that include jigsaws or rotation puzzles. The graphics are excellent but in the same neutrals palette, and sound effects are also limited to certain sounds. Herod's Lost Tomb is a nice game but you surely will find more entertaining games of the kind out there.
Advantages
  • Good cut scenes. Realistic graphics.
Disadvantages
  • Tools work in the same way. Annoying repetition of objects and locations. Same neutrals palette.
